Journey
I did it… I purchased a car that in all reality probably only few would love. I am one of those few. Life is short and I want to live it well. This little car makes me smile and in some strange way reminds me that God wants me to enjoy this ride; my journey through life. Yes, there are going to be windy, twisty roads to traverse, mountains to climb, but also beautiful vistas to view. On rainy days, there are windshield wipers (His Word) that clears my view and sharpens my vision. As I continue on there will be roads with stretches of peace and beauty. Sometimes winding trails to adventure.
God is so gracious in blessing me with good gifts and things that bring great joy, but the absolute best is knowing that He is in the one who is directing my wheels. God is with me on my journey, in fact, he is the one who has marked my GPS, carefully guiding me to each new stop in life to teach me, show me, and draw me closer to Him until one day, my little car will stop at the throne of His feet.
As I write this post, I am reminded of a story I wrote a while ago called Hidden Paths.
Here’s the premise: Staying in Vermont on the family farm wasn’t what Julie Hemmingway, a 22-year-old nursing school graduate, had envisioned for her life. After all, she had just spent four years at school in preparation to join a mission agency to use her nursing skills overseas. However, those exciting plans quickly change to sorrow when her father suffers a massive heart attack and dies. Out of necessity, she stays home to help her mom manage the farm.
Julie accepts a new job at a construction company, where life continues to throw her many curves. She meets Adam, a handsome man that she’s not so sure about, her boss who it turns out isn’t who she thinks he is, her job becomes threatened, and the future that once seemed so bright is now an ugly, murky gray.
Will Julie learn that she can trust in God and His seemingly Hidden Paths for her when everything seems to be going amiss?

I don’t know what road you are on now, but I encourage you to open your window and let some fresh air (His Spirit) fill to your cabin. Enjoy your ride!
