As I sit down to write this blog post, a winter storm warning is beeping in on my phone. Over the next two days, it looks like we’ll be getting around a foot of snow… a perfect time for a quick story by the fireplace! (Or if you are like me and will most likely still have to work tomorrow, a lunchtime read.) Let’s end this winter with a bang. I’m going to present a new story with a wintertime plot each week. The first short story I’d like to share is called SMUGGLER OF THE HEART.

Here’s the premise: Disheartened and tired, Samantha Warren returns to Vermont during the winter break. Her passion for history rekindles after finding an old smuggler’s chest hidden in her grandparents' attic. Will she be able to return to New Jersey without her heart being smuggled like the chest once was? Or is it already too late?
