Gray Days, Son's Rays
Today, on my drive into work, I peered out of my car’s windshield to a gray, overcast day. The mountain vistas I normally can see in several areas of my commute were hidden from sight. What a strange, ugly change to our Vermont landscape. The beauty was hidden, all that was left was dirty snow on the side of the road and an unseemly Dark haze, which totally envelope my little Fiat.
I couldn’t help but draw the parallel to our lives. Often when going through a dark or difficult time, we forget the beauty of life, the beauty of others, the beauty of God. All we can see is the dull gray clouds hanging over our situation. We forget, as the Apostle Paul states in 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (ESV), “For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”
No matter what you may be facing, take heart dear friend ~ there is beauty that will once again rise. It’s there, even if you can’t see it today. Either on this side of eternity or the next, the Son will burn off the clouds. Best of all, I can cling to the promise that although I may not be able to see God, He’s with me and is continually working out His will.
