Day Seventeen ~ Invitation to embrace God's peace

Scripture~ Luke 2:13-14 (New International Version) 

“Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven,    and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

My Lesson~ This past Sunday, the Advent candle that was lit in Church represented peace. But poor Bella was anything but peaceful when we were gone. How do I know? Well, her kennel where she stays was not as we left it. (Usually, she snuggles in her blanket and bed. We also have a cover over her cage so she feels safe and cozy.)

When we got home, I came into our room to let her out. 

What a surprise, there on our bedroom floor I found the black hard plastic bottom to her kennel. Don’t ask me how, but somehow she managed to dig it out and away from her cage. The fabric that was over her kennel, she had pulled inside and it was stuck so tightly, I had a hard time loosening it to get to her. It’s hard to have peace when we’re filled with anxiety isn’t it?

Although WE knew she was safe, Bella was upset because we weren’t near. She didn’t have the confidence in that knowledge without her people around. It made me realize how much I have to be thankful for. God came to earth as a babe and gave us His presence and peace. It may not always feel this way, but the reality is that He is with me.

Prayer~ Lord, You are the Prince of Peace and I worship You. Help me to cast all my cares upon you. Hold me in the shadow of Your wings as fears and anxiety assail me. In Christ’s name. Amen
